There was a problem with athletic socks. They are expensive, have only one purpose and now there are multiple brands selling plain cotton socks with the word 'performance' in the name.

At Intra Active our purpose is to bring the highest quality athletic socks to the market, that actually improve performance while still maintaining a reasonable price. Additionally, we wanted to build a sock that had the right weight and style to be used for performance but not feel out of place in a work shoe or being worn casually. This trinity of performance, comfort and all-purpose use is central to Intra Active products.

Intra Active's founder, Nick, has been running his whole life. He sold specialty running shoes and accessories for 10 years and is a 2:35 marathoner. He works in an office job and was tired of cycling between thin running socks, expensive uncomfortable business socks and socks for casual use.

After iterating and testing different designs, compression types, weights and heights, Nick tested the final version at Gold Coast Marathon in 2025 where he (and the socks) ran 2:35. It was a little bit of good training, but we are pretty sure it was the socks doing the heavy lifting.
